Use and care instructions for your hammock:

Setting up your new hammock is relatively easy and straight forward just follow the following instructions:

1. – Location.

Decide on a nice location where you will feel most comfortable being on the hammock and by using a measuring tape measure for the required distances. Your hammock will work fine indoors or outdoors.

2. - Hanging the hammock.

You may use a hammock hanging frame or a couple of strong trees (even sturdy fence posts will work); keeping in mind that the ideal hanging distance is between 13and 15 feet.
Use common sense on how high you hang your hammock. There is a tendency to sometimes hang them too high especially if there are small children around. This may lead to dangerous acrobatic moves to get into your hammock. When getting into your hammock you should be facing the opposite direction and almost falling into it almost in a sitting position. Therefore put the hammock at a height where you can sit on the edge with your feet able to reach the ground.
To anchor the hammock you can use two hanging hook screws and sets of chains or just make a good tie around the tree or post using a rope. Please ensure that hooks are driven all the way into the wood and rope ties are tight before climbing onto hammock.

3. – Indoor use.

Choosing a strong anchor point such as a door frame, stud, or joist is best option when hanging and indoor hammock. Consider hanging your hammock in a corner. This not only decreases the tripping hazard but offers more choices for sturdy anchoring. A stud finder is a handy tool to find the location of the studs.

Hammock care tips:

  • Hammocks should be handled by their end loops to avoid tangling. Fold the loops next to the body of the hammock when storing.
  • Your hammock is machine washable. Tie end strings of hammock together at two points (one tie at the loops and another tie just before the main body) then place hammock in pillow case and close by using a string. Use mild detergent, cold water, and gentle cycle. Do not use bleach. Hang dry.
  • To protect your hammock, avoid wearing shoes. Keep in mind that buttons, zippers, and buckles may snag or break individual strings. When shifting, try to spread weight out as much as possible to avoid straining any one area of the hammock.
  • When entering the hammock, center yourself with your back facing the hammock. Hold the far side of the hammock up with one hand so that the center of the hammock is flat. With the other hand, hold the front side firmly. Sit down in the center portion of the hammock and lie back. Pull up your legs by placing your feet on the edge of the hammock.
  • The three most comfortable positions for hammocks are parallel, diagonal and perpendicular. Lying diagonally allows you to be as flat as possible, and so this may be the most desirable position for napping.
  • Your hammock’s longevity is greatly dependent on care. Avoiding direct sunlight will help reduce fading that can occur over time. Rain can cause mildew, and should also be avoided if at all possible.
  • Make sure your hammock is completely dry before storing it. Avoid any damp area. Ideally, hammocks should be hung inside, without the use of any bag. However, when storing in a bag or sack, fold the nylon end strings into the cotton body and keep the end loops separate from the end strings to avoid tangling.
